West Bromwich Albion could face competition from Aston Villa in their reported pursuit of Newcastle United man Isaac Hayden, according to the Mirror.
The Magpies star was keen to leave St James’ Park during the summer transfer window and remains interested in exiting the club in January.
Hayden has been a key player for Newcastle over recent seasons and has recently been reintegrated into Rafa Benitez’s plans for the first team following a difficult start to the campaign.
The Baggies were believed to have made a loan move to sign Hayden from the Premier League side but saw their advances rejected.
Villa manager Dean Smith is believed to be on the lookout for new recruits in the transfer window as he looks to push for a spot in the top six in the second half of the season.
Darren Moore, meanwhile, appears to be intent on landing proven Premier League quality to help his side continue their pursuit of automatic promotion from the Championship.
