Wigan interested in signing West Brom’s Townsend
Championship side Wigan Athletic are interested in signing West Bromwich Albion left-back Conor Townsend, according to a report on the Mirror.
The 25-year-old joined the Baggies in the summer transfer window but has found it hard to get enough first-team action.
The former Hull City full-back is seeking more playing time and could join the Latics on loan for the remainder of the season.
Townsend has made four appearances in the Championship this season but is struggling to get into the team ahead of Kieran Gibbs.
Townsend’s best performances came whilst he played for Scunthorpe in League One, which prompted Baggies’ boss Darren Moore to sign him.
With West Brom looking to push for promotion to the Premier League, Moore may decide to keep Townsend in case he needs him in the next few months.
But Wigan are hopeful that they can convince him to let him leave for the remainder of the season.
