Brentford have confirmed that they have opened an investigation following complaints from West Brom supporters regarding Julian Jeanvier during the Baggies’ 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The travelling supporters were reportedly unhappy with the conduct of the defender, as he allegedly reacted aggressively. This occurred as he was jeered by the away fans when his momentum took him off the pitch after chasing down the ball.
The Express and Star is reporting that he responded to the fans by spitting back at them.
A spokesman for Brentford has announced that the club are aware of the complaint and an investigation into the matter is underway.
The game ended 1-0 to the visiting side, with Kyle Edwards netting the only goal for West Brom.
James Shan’s side’s next game will be at the Hawthorns on 29 March following the international break, when they host Birmingham City.
