The Baggies missed out on the chance to close the gap on the automatic promtion places with a disappointing 2-0 loss away to Millwall.
The Albion came out under pressure from the start and it only took 30 minutes for them to go one goal down.
Then an own goal from Ahmed Hegazy sealed the win for Millwall and led to frustration amongst the Baggies, with Hegazy getting his second yellow card for kicking the ball at the home supporters.
As it seems no manager is going to be appointed until the end of the season. Jamie Shan has a huge amount of work to do in order to get his team into the automatic promotion places, now seven points off second spot.
Looks like The Baggies will have to settle for play offs this season and give there all to gain promotion into the Premier League, where they can rebuild for a extremely demanding season.
However all eyes are on today’s game to secure a play-off place.
Here’s how we think The Albion will line up:
GK: Sam Johnstone
Almost like he had rubber gloves on Saturday. Never kept hold of anything. Expecting him back in top form again today.
RB: Mason Holgate
Good on Saturday. Expected to be back for the midweek clash.
CB: Craig Dawson
Sickness bug meant he was left out of the starting XI against Millwall last Saturday. Shan says he’s sure he’ll be fine for the match against Bristol.
CB: Kyle Bartley
After Tosin Adarabioyo’s performance, Shan may switch things up and give Kyle Bartley a start.
LB: Keiran Gibbs
About time Gibbs was introduced back into the starting XI. Created a lot of threatening opportunities when he was a starting man.
CM: Rekeem Harper
Huge amount of competition in midfield means Shan should change things up. Would be nice to see this lad again. Showed a lot of promise.
CM: Gareth Barry
Another possible change Shan could make. Used to be the captain in charge of the team, didn’t do a bad job. This is the perfect game for Barry to return and bring in his experience.
CM: Chris Brunt
Started every game under Jamie Shan, looks likely to start again.
RW: Jacob Murphy
Came on late in the Millwall game. Provided more of a threat, be interesting to see if he starts.
ST: Dwight Gayle
Created chances and caused problems for the Millwall defence. Albion’s leading goal scorer.
LW: Jay Rodriguez
Missed his first penalty of the season against Millwall but will most likely be back for Bristol away.
