Class performance from the off. The Baggies were in control throughout and created an abundance of goal scoring opportunities in the final third.
The Albion were at their best today opening the scoring with a Dwight Gayle volley just 6 yards out from a Chris Brunt floater into the danger area.
Just 4 minutes Gayle doubles the lead with a right-footed from the centre of the box into the bottom left corner.
However, that wasn’t all Shans men had to offer, just before half time Jay Rodriguez got himself on the score sheet with the ball falling to him in behind the defence which he could not fail to put away.
The second half came around and The Baggies looked stronger and stronger, Dwight Gayle managed to take advantage of a goal-line scramble by getting his head to the loose ball from close range.
Sadly the defence still managed to concede late on into the second half, but it wasn’t too unsettling the home fans to watch.
Great all-around show. All too familiar watching five at the back, almost as if watching a Darren Moore side in its prime.
Here’s how we rated the West Brom players:
Sam Johnstone: 7
Wasn’t tested much. Was unlucky with the last goal.
Mason Holgate: 7
Came back where he left off in the second half of the Bristol game, great performance. Looked menacing on the ball.
Ahmed Hegazy: 8
Great performance when on the pitch. Solid as a rock and composed a cucumber. Sad to see him get injured.
Craig Dawson: 7
Worked well, standard day at the office.
Kyle Bartley: 7
Didn’t have a lot to do. Provided ariel threat.
Kieran Gibbs: 8
Just as threatening as Holgate. Always provided an option. Top game.
Jake Livermore: 7
Covered acres of the pitch, won the ball back in many places, lifted pressure off the defence.
Chris Brunt: 9
Brilliant assist to Gayle for the first goal. Praised all game by the West Brom fans.
Stefan Johansen: 8
Starting to solidify his place in the starting XI, settling into the team more and more every game. Assisted the second.
Jay Rodriguez: 9
Scored a goal through being in the right place at the right time. What Rodriguez does best, class act.
Dwight Gayle: 10
Covered every blade of grass up front. Pressesed the opposition’s defence and took his chances in fine style. Flawless game, couldn’t ask for more. Congratulations Dwight Gayle.
