West Brom have confirmed that caretaker manager Jimmy Shan will remain in charge until the end of the season.
As confirmed on the club’s official website, Luke Dowling has revealed the club have been delighted with the impact he has had on the squad since replacing Darren Moore.
Jimmy has fully earned this opportunity to take us through to the end of the campaign.
He has earned the support and confidence of the players who have bought into the structural and organisational changes Jimmy has introduced. He has the backing of everyone to push on now and take us forward with momentum.
Shan has impressed since taking over at West Brom and had been put in charge on a game-by-game basis as the Baggies continued their hunt for a new permanent manager.
The likes of Alex Neil and Slavisa Jokanovic have been linked with the job, but any permanent appointment will now surely be withheld until the summer.
Contenders for the West Brom job
Carlos Carvalhal remains an outsider and he’ll feel he has unfinished business in the Championship.
Sam Allardyce continues to be linked with the role but he may not be a popular choice with supporters.
David Wagner showed his pedigree by taking Huddersfield to the Premier League and keeping them up in their first season. He certainly has the ambition that West Brom are after.
Despite signing a new deal with Preston, Neil’s name is one that refuses to go away. You may not have heard the last of this.
If he does manage to take West Brom to the Premier League, surely he will be given the job full time? It would be hard for the Baggies not to give him the gig.
