Dwight Gayle will not be available for selection for the playoff final of West Brom make it to Wembley as he will he banned for two games following his red card during the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, as per a report from Matt Wilson of the Express and Star.

Usually, if a player is sent off for picking up two yellow cards in the same game, he receives a one game suspension.

However, because Gayle has already served a two game ban earlier this season for deceiving an official to win a penalty, his suspension for the sending off at Villa Park will be for a further two games.

Gayle was booked for time wasting as West Brom led Villa 1-0 and he was controversially sent off later on for a challenge on goalkeeper Jed Steer.

Therefore, if West Brom can turn around their 2-1 deficit in the second leg of their playoff semi-final, they’ll be without their start striker for the final at Wembley.
