Slaven Bilic has reportedly identified his first transfer target should he be named as West Brom’s next permanent manager, with Fenerbahce midfielder Tolgay Arslan said to be on the Croatian’s radar.
Bilic is said to be the favourite to take over at the Hawthorns following a second meeting with the club, and according to Sport Witness via Turkish outlet FotoMac, Arslan is his first transfer target.
The 28-year-old played under Bilic during his time with Turkish giants Besiktas, and the Croat is said to be a big fan of the midfielder.
Arslan came through the ranks at Borussia Dortmund before joining Hamburg on a free transfer in 2009, and the German has since had spells with Alemannia Aachen, Besiktas and Fenerbahce.
Bilic will be looking to strengthen the Baggies’ squad ahead of another push for promotion to the Premier League next season, should he be named the next permanent West Brom manager.
Four alternative midfielders West Brom could sign
Diame is available on a free transfer this summer, and has previous experience of winning promotion to the Premier League.
Johansen enjoyed a fine spell on loan with the Baggies last season, though Fulham’s relegation to the Championship could hinder their chances of signing the midfielder once again.
Johnson has been released by Derby and could be a useful addition to the Baggies squad.
John Obi Mikel
Another who is available on a free transfer this summer, Mikel had a solid spell with Middlesbrough last season and is another who could be a useful squad player for the Baggies.
