West Brom could complete a deal to hire Slaven Bilic as their new manager this week.
According to a report from the Express and Star, the Baggies are closing in on the former West Ham man as Darren Moore’s permanent replacement.
Bilic has very quickly emerged as the favourite for the West Brom job, with the Croatian keen to return to management in England.
A host of names had been linked with the role, but it is Bilic who appears to have done enough, with both parties eager to reach an agreement in the coming days.
While terms are yet to be agreed, Bilic spoke with West Brom’s board on two occasions last week.
An appointment at the Hawthorns has been a long time coming after Moore was originally sacked in March.
Jimmy Shan was given the reigns on a temporary basis but was unable to guide the club back to the Premier League via the play-offs.
What does Bilic need to do if he gets the West Brom job?
Cut the wage bill
The club are well on their way to doing this through their retained list, but there could be some more movement at West Brom over the summer.
Lower the average age of the squad
Bringing through younger players is something West Brom need to look at this summer, they have relied on experience for too long.
Find Gayle's replacement
Bilic will need to replace Gayle’s goals over the summer to ensure the Baggies are competitive next season.
Find the next Barnes
Harvey Barnes had West Brom fans dreaming during his time at the club. Finding the next creative spark to drive the team forward will be crucial to Bilic.
