Championship trio interested in James Morrison
West Brom’s out of contract midfielder James Morrison is attracting interest from a host of Championship clubs, including the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Reading.
Reports in the national press, cited by The 72, have claimed that Blackburn, in particular, are looking for experienced players to help bolster their squad next season, with 34-year-old winger Stewart Downing also catching the attention of Rovers boss Tony Mowbray.
Mowbray is already well accustomed to the qualities Morrison can bring to his team, having signed him in 2007 whilst manager of West Brom, and with well over 300 appearances for the Baggies, Morrison is well suited to the cut and thrust of Championship football.
The Scot has played his part in two successful promotions to the Premier League whilst at the Hawthorns.
At 33, the Scottish international was used sparingly last season, making 19 appearances in total, and will now look to play out the twilight of his career away from the club where he spent twelve fruitful years.
Despite the obvious ties to Blackburn and a potential reunion with his former manager, Bristol City and Reading still retain their interest as they look to regroup after disappointing campaigns.
Bristol City missed out on a place in the playoffs by just four points, whilst Reading continued their dramatic free fall by once again narrowly avoiding relegation.
