Portsmouth set to pip West Brom to Edmundson
Oldham Athletic defender George Edmundson has been linked with a move to West Brom, but he looks set to join League One side Portsmouth according to The Mirror.
Pompey boss Kenny Jackett is keen to recruit the centre-back as they look to replace Matt Clarke, who appears set for an exit.
The Mirror claims that the League One outfit have offered a fee around £650,000 for the 21-year-old, and have seen their bid accepted.
New Baggies boss Slaven Bilic will be keen to add to his defence to help them push for promotion next season.
Last term, West Brom appeared to struggle in their defensive third, so the incoming manager will undoubtedly be looking to improve this, and Edmundson was thought to have been a target.
The central defender featured 45 times for Oldham last season and even managed to chip in with two goals for his team.
West Brom may need to move quickly now if they are to stand a chance of rivalling Pompey in the race to sign Edmundson.
