West Brom are reportedly interested in signing FC Porto defender Diogo Queiros.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, cited by Sports Witness, the Baggies, who completed the loan signing of Benfica midfielder Filip Krovinovic last week, are now tracking Queiros.
The 20-year-old hasn’t turned out in a first-team encounter for the Portuguese giants, featuring predominantly in Porto’s B side in recent years.
A move for Queiros could depend on Porto’s transfer business, with Sergio Conceicao extremely short on central defensive options at this moment in time.
Porto are hoping to secure the services of Ivan Marcano from Roma in the coming weeks, which could then allow the Baggies to make a loan move for the talented Queiros.
West Brom are also short at the back themselves, with Craig Dawson leaving for Watford and current centre-back Ahmed Hegazi recently linked with a surprise move to Aston Villa.
A deal to bring Queiros to the Hawthorns may well be an excellent one, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool previously tracking the youngster.
Four areas Bilic looks set to strengthen this summer
Right-back is an area that desperately needs strengthening at the Hawthorns, with Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson a rumoured target for Bilic.
Even if the Baggies do indeed sign Queiros, Bilic may well decide to go after another central defender.
Bilic currently has a lack of wide options, so the Croat may decide to bring in some creative flair additions to his side.
Dwight Gayle has returned to parent club Newcastle, while Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodgriuez have been tipped to leave on a permanent basis. Bilic looks certain to bolster his goalscoring options in the coming weeks.
