Aston Villa have recently been linked with a shock move for West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi.
However, according to Saudi Arabian outlet Okaz, cited by The Boot Room, the Egyptian is close to signing for Al-Ahli.
The report suggests that details regarding a deal for the impressive 28-year-old will be announced in the ‘coming days’.
Hegazi originally joined the Baggies back in 2017 on an initial loan deal, however, after impressing at The Hawthorns, the towering defender made his temporary move to the Midlands permanent.
The centre-back has gone on to make 85 appearances during his two-year stay, however, it appears that Hegazi may not turn out under Slaven Bilic in a competitive encounter.
Bilic has already lost Craig Dawson to Watford and Jay Rodriguez to Burnley, and losing Hegazi ahead of the new campaign will come as a huge blow to the Croat, who will now need to be active in the market for more defensive reinforcements.
Four potential replacements for Hegazi
Cahill is now a free agent after leaving Chelsea and could be tempted with a senior role at The Hawthorns next season.
Arsenal’s Jenkinson is another player West Brom could look to. The defender can play at right-back or centre-back and would provide Bilic with plenty of experience.
Bilic is a big admirer of West Ham’s Oxford and is thought to be keen on bringing the youngster to The Hawthorns.
Huddersfield’s Jorgensen looks set to leave the Terriers this summer, so the Baggies could make a move for the player, who is attracting interest from Turkey.
