West Brom leading the race for free agent Ivan Balliu
West Brom are thought to be interested in right-back Ivan Balliu, according to Spanish outlet AS, cited by Sports Witness.
The report suggests that the Baggies are looking at the possibility of bringing the Albanian to The Hawthorns, with current right-back Allan Nyom edging towards a move to La Liga side Getafe.
The story then goes on to add that Balliu is willing to accept a move to the Midlands, with one of his key ambitions to ply his trade in England.
Balliu, who came through Barcelona’s famous youth system, was recently released by French club Metz after spending four years with the club.
The 27-year-old’s release came as a surprise, with the full-back an ever-present figure during his four-year stint in France, playing a key role in helping the club back to Ligue 1 last season.
The Baggies look set to face competition from Spain for Balliu’s signature, with Real Valladolid, Leganes and Espanyol all keen on the defender.
West Brom boss Slaven Bilic is keen on adding to his right-back options, and a deal for Balliu could well turn out to be a smart piece of business.
