West Brom have reportedly set their sights on a £3 million deal to sign Brentford’s Romaine Sawyers.
According to The Telegraph’s John Percy, the player is a target for several clubs this summer.
It is claimed that any potential move could progress ‘in the next few days’ as Slaven Bilic looks to make further additions to his squad.
Sawyers has been among the most highly-rated midfielders in the Championship for some time and has previously been linked with moves away from Brentford.
He was ever-present for the Bees last season, featuring 42 times in the Championship, assisting six goals along the way.
After completing deals to sign both Kenneth Zohore and Semi Ajayi, the links to Sawyers show West Brom’s clear plan to swoop for some of the best talents in the Championship.
Zohore joined the club from relegated Cardiff City, with Bilic looking to replace the goals of Dwight Gayle, while Ajayi was very highly rated at Rotherham.
Why Romaine Sawyers would be a great signing for West Brom
Sawyers has proven his quality in the Championship and is ready to fight for promotion to the Premier League, something the Baggies will be keen to do during the coming season.
A good price
At £3 million, a deal for Sawyers would represent fantastic value for West Brom without breaking the bank.
Helps form a new-look attack
With the additions of Zohore and Filip Krovinovic, Sawyers could help form an exciting new-look attack for the Baggies.
Potential to step up in the Premier League
Sawyers is a player that would be able to step up in the Premier League if the Baggies were to go on and secure promotion back to the top flight.
