Leeds have handed West Brom a transfer boost after reports of their interest in Romaine Sawyers were denied.

It had been claimed that Leeds could rival West Brom in a move for the Brentford midfielder, but claims from David Anderson suggest that this is not the case.

Sawyers had been linked with a move to Marcelo Bielsa’s side, while Celtic have also been suggested as a potential destination in the past.

Bielsa is said to be a huge admirer of the player after seeing him impress in the Championship.

West Brom have recently been linked with a £3 million move to sign the player as Slaven Bilic looks to continue the club’s summer spending. Reports have suggested that a deal could progress over the course of the week.

Eager to boost their promotion chances, the new West Brom boss has spent big on the likes of Kenneth Zohore as the club seek a return to the Premier League.
