With just days to go until the new season starts, there are still a few holes in Slaven Bilic’s West Brom squad. Albion are expected to spend a bit of money between now and the start of the new campaign but funds aren’t unlimited.
However, both West Brom and Bilic have used the free agent market to their advantage in the past and there are still plenty of players available to sign on free transfers this summer.
We’ve taken a look at some who we think would be excellent additions for Albion:
Daniel Sturridge
Daniel Sturridge’s loan deal to Albion didn’t work but that’s no reason to halt any interest in him. Expecting Sturridge to play 90 minutes in every game would be foolish but as a player who can come in and out of the team, he’d be a great addition.
Andy Carroll
Another player who had had horrendous injury luck is Andy Carroll. Bilic knows the big striker well and when fit, Carroll would be too much for most Championship defenders to handle.
Gary Cahill
Aged 33, Gary Cahill has seen and won it all at club level. His best years are behind him, hence why he’s available but he’s still a very good defender.
Lazar Markovic
Lazar Markovic’s career has been on a bit of a downward spiral since his move to Liverpool. However, his pace and talent are still clear to see, he just needs somebody to rebuild his shattered confidence.
Danny Simpson
Former Premier League winner Danny Simpson is available after his release from Leicester. He’d be a solid right-back option for Albion.
Martin Skrtel
Martin Skrtel may be 34 but he’s still playing at a high level. His physicality could make him a perfect fit for the Championship.
Jack Rodwell
Another player whose career hit the skids a bit after a big move. He was fairly solid for Blackburn and Bilic could see him as a decent option.
Martin Olsson
Sweedish international Martin Olsson could be a decent option to add depth at full-back.
