West Brom still pushing hard for Pereira deal before the transfer deadline
West Brom are still working hard to land Sporting Lisbon winger Matheus Pereira this month, according to the Express and Star.
The Baggies are keen on bringing up to four signings to the Hawthorns before Thursday’s transfer deadline, and the Brazilian forward is a prime target for Slaven Bilic.
So far negotiations have reached an impasse, with Sporting insistent on inserting an obligation to buy clause in any prospective loan deal. However, Albion are still hopeful that they will be able to find a breakthrough before the deadline.
Having spent last season on loan with Nurnberg, Pereira would add some much needed depth into Albion’s attacking ranks, which are in need of strengthening following the departure of Jay Rodriguez and loan star Dwight Gayle.
Albion have raised significant funds from sales this summer and they aren’t keen on letting any other key players go, especially regarding Matt Phillips who they are expected to reject all offers for.
