Football pundit Noel Whelan believes that West Brom will be serious contenders for automatic promotion this season, citing their transfer business as the primary reason why.
Slaven Bilic brought in a total of nine players over the course of the transfer window, many of them offensive reinforcements, with the club desperate to restore their top flight status.
Charlie Austin joined on Deadline Day from Southampton in the club’s most high-profile deal of the summer, and Whelan believes that these audacious signings could help spearhead Albion in a Premier League promotion push.
Talking to Football Insider, as reported by Birmingham Live, Whelan said:
They’ve been busy and they’ve bought really well.
Their signings in this window have turned them from maybes to very strong contenders for automatic promotion.
Bilic has made some very good signings there, some new faces through the door.

Whelan is right to praise the transfer business done by West Brom this summer, with Bilic having clearly added a plethora of attacking options. The Croatian has even made it hard to predict who will line-up for the Baggies, such is their depth of quality up front and out wide.
Whether the club can break through and earn their place in the Premier League back is as of now unclear, but their business has given the best opportunity to give it a good crack this season.
