After a much needed win was earned against Luton Town over the weekend, the Baggies take on Reading at The Hawthorns midweek, in search of our first home win of the season.
Albion once again showed great character by coming from a goal down at Kenilworth Road to take all 3 points, courtesy of a masterclass from league debutant Grady Diangana which has seen us take 7 points from our opening three Championship games.
Attention now turns towards Reading who will be heading into this game on a high after a convincing 3-0 win against Cardiff last Sunday.
As it is a midweek game, there might be the possibility of changes from Slaven Bilic, which could see the new signings made on deadline day start for the first time this season.
After a disappointing game from Matt Phillips, Kyle Edwards and Kenneth Zohore, could we see the whole front three changed?
Here’s how I think West Brom will line up on Wednesday night:
GK: Sam Johnstone
Couldn’t do anything about the goal conceded Saturday. Decent save to deny Kazenga LuaLua. Should keep his place.
RB: Darnell Furlong
Despite Nathan Ferguson’s impressive performance, he is only 18, so I would like to see Furlong given a chance midweek.
CB: Semi Ajayi
At fault for the goal at Luton after slipping but expected to keep his place.
CB: Kyle Bartley
Solid on Saturday and seems transformed under Bilic. Should keep his place.
LB: Kieran Gibbs
Should have closed down the cross more for the goal on Saturday but first choice so likely to start.
CM: Jake Livermore
One of the best players on the pitch Saturday. Deserves to keep his place.
CM: Romaine Sawyers
Been very solid since he rejoined in the summer. Another start for him is likely.
CM: Filip Krovinovic
Had a hand in Diangana’s second goal as his shot was deflected. Solid performer so far and should start midweek.
RW: Grady Diangana
Turned the game around on Saturday with 2 goals in three minutes. Deserves a start for his sensational league debut.
LW: Matheus Pereira
Set up a chance for Austin when he came on. A midweek game could be perfect to start the Brazilian after Edwards and Phillips’s average performances.
ST: Charlie Austin
Unlucky not to score as he hit the post on Saturday. Did more in 10 minutes then Zohore did in 80 so I’d like to see him start.
