Leeds will reportedly step up their pursuit of Coventry City’s teenage full-back Sam McCallum in the hope of being the likes of West Brom to his signature.

According to Football Insider, as cited on Lancashire Evening Post, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will try and conclude a deal for the player in January.

The Championship high-flyers are confident that they will get their man, so is it time for the Baggies to look elsewhere following their previous interest?

You could make the argument that West Brom don’t really need to make any immediate improvements in the left-back spot.

Slaven Bilic has Kieran Gibbs, Conor Townsend and Nathan Ferguson to call upon, with the latter impressing recently.

The Baggies manager will not be short of depth in that position, so unless they’re thinking more long-term, any deal to sign McCallum may not be needed in the new year.

With the January window just around the corner, there will be other areas of the squad that Bilic will be keen to strengthen and he should prioritise them over a move for the Coventry star, despite how impressive he has been.
