When West Brom loaned Jonathan Leko out to Charlton Athletic, they wanted him to be in the headlines for his play on the pitch.

However, through no fault of his own, the 20-year-old has found himself wrapped up in a racism-related storm

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is set to be banned for between eight and 12 weeks for alleged racial slur against the West Brom youngster.

The alleged incident took place back in September and the FA immediately launched an investigation and whilst the official findings of that investigation are yet to be released, the Mail are reporting that Casilla will be found guilty and that the FA are set to hit him with a large ban to set a precedent that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.

It’s difficult to comment on the incident too much as we don’t know all of the facts yet but if the Mail are right and Casilla did use a racial slur towards Leko, then he deserves a large ban.

Albion fans are sure to rally around their young player, and Charlton fans will likely do the same, as football fans unite to make it clear that racism has no place in football.
