West Brom aim to return to the top of the Championship with a win over struggling rivals Stoke City.
After Swansea City, Leeds United and Preston North End all won their games this weekend, the pressure is on for the Baggies to get three points tonight and reclaim top spot after they were knocked down to fourth.
Stoke City, though, are going through a really tough period at the moment, and they are rooted to the bottom of the Championship and will be managerless in tonights game after they recently sacked Nathan Jones.
Back-to back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall have seen the Potters not score a goal so this could be a perfect opportunity for Albion to rack up another clean sheet for the season.
Albion will also be looking to win for the first time in 2 games after they slipped up twice at home in a week after draws with Barnsley and Charlton which saw them unable to develop a good lead at the top but they could be 2 points clear again with all three points tonight.
For team news, Nathan Ferguson serves the first of his three game ban after his sending off against Charlton so Conor Townsend is expected to fill in as Kieran Gibbs is still out with a broken toe. Kenneth Zohore is expected to be in the squad after playing in the u23’s midweek scoring twice as he continued his battle back from a calf injury.
Here’s how we predict Albion will line-up tonight…
GK: Sam Johnstone
High in confidence at the moment and you can tell, Johnstone yet again made numerous saves to help Albion against Charlton and should be between the sticks again.
RB: Darnell Furlong
Solidified his position at right back with impressive performances so far this season and should be in line to start again.
CB: Semi Ajayi
A little bit shaky last week and was adjudged to have given the last minute penalty away but should be given the chance to make up for it.
CB: Kyle Bartley
Another solid shift last weekend from Bartley and it looks like it could keep Hegazi out another week.
LB: Conor Townsend
With Ferguson suspended and Gibbs injured, this is surely the perfect chance for Townsend to put a solid performance in.
CM: Jake Livermore (C)
The club captain has been fantastic this season so far and should lead the team out once again.
CM: Romaine Sawyers
Gives the midfield so much composure and should partner Livermore in defensive midfield once more.
CAM: Matheus Pereira
The Baggies main man for creativity and he should start once again.
RW: Matt Phillips
Grabbed goal number 5 of the season last weekend and made a difference after coming back from injury. Should start.
LW: Grady Diangana
Wasn’t at his best in the Charlton draw last week but the West Ham United loanee should be given another chance.
ST: Charlie Austin
Since his goal against Cardiff, Austin hasn’t found the net but could be given the chance tonight to find it against a poor Stoke backline.
