West Brom have made loan approach to Chelsea for striker Michy Batshuayi, according to an exclusive report from Football Insider.

Following the arrival of Timo Werner at Stamford Bridge, Batshuayi has found himself pushed even further down the pecking order at his current club, with the German, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham all seemingly ahead of the Belgian in terms of Frank Lampard’s plans.

Chelsea would, according to the report, rather Batshuayi leave on a permanent basis this summer but given the impact of the pandemic, they’re aware that not many clubs will be able to afford a big transfer fee and as such, they would be open to a loan move for the 26-year-old.

Batshuayi’s Chelsea career has been one of stops and starts and whilst his goal return is respectable – he’s scored 25 goals from 77 games for the Blues – he’s clearly seen as someone who they could cash in on.

The Belgian has already spent time on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Crystal Palace, so a third move isn’ out of the question.

West Brom look like they need to sign a reliable striker and whilst Batshuayi has not really proven to be a consistet player, he has a history of scoring Premier League goals and as such, a loan for him could be a risk worth taking for The Baggies.
