West Brom drew 0-0 with Burnley on Saturday and Ainsley Maitland-Niles was one of the Albion players praised for his performance by many fans from his parent club Arsenal
Birmingham Live and the Express and Star both had the 23-year-old as Albion’s highest-rated player on the day. No West Brom player made more interceptions, completed a higher percentage of passes or turned over the ball more than the 23-year-old (WhoScored), who has been having a notable impact since joining on loan from the Gunners three weeks ago.
Maitland-Niles played for 90 minutes on Saturday, had 46 touches, completed 87% of his passes, created one chance, won two tackles, had one shot, made two interceptions, whipped in two crosses, made two clearances, had one successful dribble and won three free kicks (WhoScored).
The 23-year-old has made three appearances for Albion and has only been on the losing team once (Transfermarkt). Maitland-Niles’ form is keeping Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore out of the starting XI and vindicating his decision to leave Arsenal at the end of the winter transfer window.
