Mbaye Diagne has impressed for West Brom since joining on loan from Galatasaray and the Baggies have the option to turn his move permanent this summer.

Joseph Masi of the Express and Star has revealed via Twitter that his buying option may depend on West Brom staying in the Premier League, however, so it seems unlikely he’ll be at The Hawthorns next season.

Diagne has had a hand in two goals from four league starts for Albion (Transfermarkt) and could have added more to his tally had it not been for the woodwork and four of his efforts not hitting the target. He has won an aerial duel every 16 minutes on average while winning seven free-kicks (WhoScored).

Albion are currently 19th in the Premier League and 11 points adrift of safety with just 13 games remaining (WhoScored), so it’s unlikely that they’ll avoid relegation and that the 29-year-old will remain at the club.

Diagne has 95 goals and 17 assists from 175 career games (Transfermarkt) and would be a brilliant permanent signing, but he probably doesn’t want to play second-tier football, so Albion will have to turn their attentions elsewhere.

Losing Diagne would be a blow if Albion went down, but Kenneth Zohore, Charlie Austin, Karlan Grant, Callum Robinson and Hal Robson-Kanu are still on the books at West Brom, so some of them might be decent options for the Championship if that’s where the Baggies end up next term.
