West Brom host Brighton in the Premier League this afternoon and can’t afford anything less than a win in their fight for survival.

Sam Allardyce may be confident of getting a result as the Baggies are unbeaten in their last two games, but he will be forced to replace one key player due to suspension.

Sam Johnstone is expected to start and kept a long-awaited clean sheet last Saturday, so he’ll hope not to be called into action too much this weekend.

Darnell Furlong has performed well since coming in for the injured Lee Peltier, so he should keep his place at right-back. Conor Townsend has made the left-back spot his own recently, so Allardyce should give him the nod once more.

Kyle Bartley has been a regular under Allardyce and should celebrate his recent contract extension with another start at centre-back. Semi Ajayi is suspended after being sent off against Burnley, so Dara O’Shea is likely to get the nod as his replacement.

Okay Yokuslu has drawn praise from Alardyce for his combative performances in midfield, so it seems inconceivable that he doesn’t start against Brighton. Conor Gallagher and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have also impressed alongside the Turkish international, so they should also keep their places.

Matt Phillips hasn’t been a regular of late, but he did start against Burnley and has been introduced from the bench ahead of Callum Robinson and Karlan Grant previously (Transfermarkt), so he should start on the right wing. Matheus Pereira should have scored more than once against Burnley, but he should get the nod on the left as he’s Albion’s top scorer and leading assists provider (WhoScored).

Mbaye Diagne has had a hand in two goals from his first five games at Albion (Transfermarkt) and offers a threat up front, so he is expected to lead the line.

All in all, just the one enforced change from the team which started at Burnley a week ago.

Predicted XI vs Brighton: Johnstone; Furlong, O’Shea, Bartley, Townsend; Yokuslu, Gallagher, Maitland-Niles; Phillips, Diagne, Pereira
