West Bromwich Albion suffered a 1-0 defeat to Everton on Thursday, but Conor Gallagher was praised by supporters for his performance. He scored a 7 in Birmingham Live’s player ratings and was one bright spark to Albion’s disappointing evening.

The 21-year-old has been a regular under Sam Allardyce due to his high levels of work rate and composure in possession, but his valiant efforts at the Hawthorns weren’t enough to help West Brom get a result.

Against Everton, Gallagher played for 77 minutes, had 51 touches, completed 91.4% of his 35 passes, created two chances, had two shots, whipped in four crosses with 25% finding a teammate, gave away one foul and had four successful dribbles (WhoScored).

The 21-year-old has made 21 Premier League appearances this season, scoring two goals and supplying two assists. Sadly for West Brom, he’s only on loan from Chelsea and will return to Stamford Bridge in the coming months. Despite Thursday’s result, Gallagher should be pleased with his efforts. Sam Allardyce certainly should be.

Gallagher has been a tidy acquisition for West Brom, albeit temporary, and the Baggies might want to retain his services for next season.
