Sam Johnstone made his debut for England on Monday night, keeping a clean sheet as the Three Lions enjoyed a 1-0 friendly win over Romania.

The 28-year-old is expected to leave West Bromwich Albion this summer, but he picked up his first cap as a Baggie, so Read West Brom have looked into the last Albion player to represent England.

It was Jake Livermore back in 2017. The 31-year-old has spent the second half of the season on the periphery due to his poor form, but he was once an important player for England.

Livermore made his England debut back in 2012, but the majority of his caps came in a cluster. He’s featured seven times for the Three Lions but six of them were between 2016 and 2017.

He’s miles away from an England call up these days and doesn’t appear to be wanted at West Brom anymore, but Livermore was an effective defensive midfielder in the past.

The 31-year-old was good at turning over possession while being composed on the ball, but he’s no longer displaying the same quality at club level which is why he’s been dropped.
