The 2020/21 season is over and Mbaye Diagne’s stint at West Bromwich Albion has all but come to an end, but he’s keeping sharp over the summer by playing in exhibition games as his Instagram stories show.
The 29-year-old appears to be back in the African continent, but it’s unknown who he’s playing with. Regardless, Diagne is working on his fitness and condition by playing games during the off-season, so this will benefit him when the new campaign begins.
West Brom will be disappointed they couldn’t beat the drop as they may have stood a chance of landing the Senegalese international’s signature permanently. His exit from the Hawthorns means Albion need another new striker too.
Diagne was only on loan from Galatasaray, Charlie Austin is being released this summer, Kenneth Zohore is surplus to requirements and Hal Robson-Kanu is being released this summer, so the Baggies will be left with Callum Robinson and Karlan Grant in attack.
Diagne scored three goals and made two assists in 16 games for West Brom since January. He was a real presence up front and took little time to acclimatise to the Premier League, but the 29-year-old didn’t have the best service.
