Sam Johnstone and Matheus Pereira have an uncertain future at West Bromwich Albion after last season’s relegation to the Championship.

Johnstone impressed between the sticks despite the Baggies beating the drop and has been linked with Leeds United and West Ham United. Pereira was also a standout performer and has interest from Aston Villa, Brentford, Leeds United, Norwich City and West Ham.

West Brom plying their trade in the second tier leaves them powerless to keep Johnstone and Pereira at the Hawthorns and new manager Valerien Ismael conceded that the pair will likely departure.

He told the Independent: “It’s not a secret, Sam Johnstone and Matheus Pereira are the two players who can leave. It’s my expectation they will leave.”

Johnstone has made 131 appearances in all competitions for West Brom since joining the side from Manchester United. He’s been named in England’s 26-man squad for the 2020 European Championships off the back of his form last season and could be a good asset for a Premier League side in 2021/22.

Pereira has made 77 appearances for the Baggies, scoring 20 goals with 26 assists. He had a hand in 18 goals from 34 games last season, so he would be useful for plenty of top-flight clubs.
