West Bromwich Albion had to say goodbye to Conor Gallagher at the end of the season after his loan spell came to an end, and now the 21-year-old is back training with his parent club for pre-season.

Gallagher posted a picture on Instagram of him undergoing a session at Chelsea’s Cobham Training Ground, so his future is now in their hands. West Brom may have liked to sign him permanently after the successful loan spell, but it appears he’s caught the eye of Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Gallagher made 32 appearances at West Brom, scoring two goals with two assists. He was a regular under Slaven Bilic and Sam Allardyce when fit, often keeping out the likes of Romain Sawyers and Jake Livermore because of his consistency in midfield.

But Gallagher is only 21 and has great potential, so Chelsea don’t want to let a promising talent leave without getting a good look at him. The midfielder won’t want to drop down a division after playing in the Premier League last season either, so it’s hard to see him returning to West Brom for another loan.
