West Bromwich Albion have already made two signings this summer, bringing in midfielder Alex Mowatt from Barnsley on a free transfer and defender Matthew Clarke from Portsmouth on a season-long loan, but they aren’t done there.

James Pearce of The Athletic says the Baggies have their eye on Harry Wilson from Liverpool and could make him their third summer signing if they beat out interest from Benfica and Brentford. The 24-year-old was highly-rated at Liverpool, but The Athletic say the Reds are open to a permanent departure.

Wilson has made one appearance for Liverpool U18s, six appearances for the U19s, 60 appearances for the U23s and two appearances at senior level.

His lack of playing time in the first-team led to loan moves at Crewe Alexandra (August 2015 – January 2016), Hull City (January 2018 – May 2018), Derby County (July 2018 – May 2019), Bournemouth (August 2019 – July 2020) and Cardiff City (October 2020 – May 2021).

Wilson had a hand in 19 goals from 38 games at Cardiff last season, so West Brom will be hoping he can replicate such form in the Championship. Fans are optimistic on social media, but time will tell if Albion can get this deal over the line.
