Mbaye Diagne scored for Galatasaray in their Champions League qualifier with PSV Eindhoven and marked his long-awaited return for the Turkish Super Lig outfit with a post on Instagram.

The 29-year-old will definitely feel like the one who got away for West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies had him for nearly six months last season but suffered relegation from the Premier League and were resigned to losing him.

Had West Brom stayed up, there’s every chance Diagne was attainable permanently as he was keen on playing in the Premier League this coming season, but their loss is now Galatasaray’s gain.

Diagne was frozen out by former manager Fatih Terim last season but has been recalled by caretaker manager Selçuk İnan. The Senegalese international trained with Gala’s first-team in pre-season and has been given competitive minutes on the pitch.

Diagne’s goal should boost his chances of getting more regular playing time this campaign, so it doesn’t appear there’s any chance he’ll be available to West Brom now. He netted three goals and made two assists in 16 games for Albion but boasts one goal in as many games for Gala.
