West Bromwich Albion have signed Alex Mowatt on a free transfer from Barnsley, centre-back Matt Clarke on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion and Quevin Moises Castro on a free transfer, but Football Insider say they’re closing in on a move for Adam Reach.
The 28-year-old is a free agent after being released by Sheffield Wednesday this summer and West Brom offered him a contract which he’s accepted. Blackburn Rovers tried and failed to lure Reach to Ewood Park, so their loss will be Albion’s gain. There is some excitement and optimism on social media too.
The versatile winger, who’s also played for Middlesbrough, Darlington (loan), Shrewsbury Town (loan), Bradford City (loan), and Preston North End (loan), made 230 appearances in all competitions for Wednesday between 2016 and 2021, scoring 24 goals with 34 assists.
Reach can play in defence and midfield while also having a short-lived stint as a makeshift centre-forward, so Valerien Ismael has a useful squad player on his hands now. Fans are content with Reach’s signing and the manager is clearly an admirer, so time will tell if he can justify the move.
