Dara O’Shea picked up an injury while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland and has since found out that he’ll be sidelined for most of the season. The 22-year-old posted on Instagram about the initial injury he suffered, vowing to return soon, but he’s now going to face a long rehabilitation.

West Brom confirmed on Tuesday that O’Shea fractured his ankle and would be out of action for approximately four to six months. That means he won’t play again this year and may not return until March.

Despite the setback, O’Shea still posted a good luck message on his Instagram story for Ireland ahead of their last two games. Understandably, however, the news has devastated supporters for club and country on social media.

The 22-year-old had played every minute of every Championship game for West Brom this season, but he’ll now miss a chunk of matches, forcing Valerien Ismael to consider an alternative.

He has Kyle Bartley, Semi Ajayi and new-boy Kean Bryan, so there’s not a lot of depth. Fans will hope O’Shea’s injury doesn’t impact their promotion chase.
