West Bromwich Albion played out a 0-0 draw with Derby County and Alex Mowatt came away with a lot of praise from supporters on social media for his performance at the Hawthorns.
No player had more successful dribbles, won more free-kicks or blocked more shots than the 26-year-old. Only one player created more chances and made more tackles than Mowatt too.
Against Derby, West Brom’s new-boy played for 90 minutes, had 84 touches, won three aerial duels, completed 79.7% of his 59 passes, created three chances, had two shots, whipped in seven crosses, made two tackles, had three successful dribbles, made two interceptions and was fouled twice.
Mowatt has made seven appearances in all competitions since joining West Brom over the summer, scoring two goals with one assist. He’s had an instant impact at the Hawthorns and stood out in a game that had few positives.
Valerien Ismael isn’t blessed with a lot of midfield depth after inheriting a side that lost Sam Field, Okay Yokuslu, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Romaine Sawyers, so it’s imperative that Mowatt is kept fit. He’ll be a key player in Albion’s promotion push.
