West Bromwich Albion travel to face Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon and Sam Johnstone posted a short video on his Instagram story in anticipation for the clash.
The 28-year-old was with England during the international break and posted a clip of a training session that showed off his reflexes and safe hands between the sticks.
Johnstone has made 16 Championship appearances this season, conceding 13 goals with seven clean sheets. The England international has represented his country twice in as many months, but he’s been an unused substitute in their last three outings.
The 28-year-old is having a good campaign for club and country, but the winter transfer window could see things change. Johnstone is out of contract next summer, so West Brom have a decision to make whether to cash in early or risk losing him on a free transfer.
International prospects could lead Johnstone to seek an early departure too, as Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale are now ahead of him in the pecking order. Dean Henderson could be breathing down his neck for the No.3 slot too, so Johnstone needs to be playing at the highest level possible.
