Jake Livermore was sent off in West Bromwich Albion’s 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town on Saturday and the Baggies appealed the decision ahead of their midweek clash with Blackpool. Albion confirmed on Instagram, however, that the suspension had been upheld.

This means, the 32-year-old will be banned for three games and supporters on social media weren’t too disappointed to hear the news. Livermore put in a poor performance against Huddersfield before being sent off, so some fans might feel it’s good news taking him out of the spotlight for a few games.

d.west_5: “Let’s be honest, Do you really want Livermore playing in the midfield, Probably not, I would much rather have Mowatt, Snodgrass or mulumby.”

ilai.amar: “We need a new midfielder ASAP.”

j.beale05: “You know its bad when everyone’s celebrating a suspension.”

m.a.tt_cross: “Mowatt x molumby time.”

colin198333: “To be fair, we always look more inventive when he is missing.”

Livermore has made 16 Championship appearances this season, notching one assist. The England international has picked up five yellow cards and one red card, and he won’t feature again for West Brom until the middle of December.

Livermore will miss Tuesday’s trip to face Blackpool, Friday’s home clash with Nottingham Forest and Saturday’s trip to face Coventry City a week later. He should be back to face Reading on December 11.

In his absence, Valerien Ismael has Alex Mowatt, Robert Snodgrass and Jayson Mulumby to call upon. West Brom come into their meeting with Blackpool off the back of two defeats and a draw from their last four games, so things hadn’t been going well with Livermore either way.

That being said, time will tell if his suspension breeds a different outcome in the weeks to come.
