West Bromwich Albion finally returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Coventry and Cedric Kipre was one of many players who came away with praise for his performance. Fans on social media lauded his efforts at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The 24-year-old started at centre-back alongside Matthew Clarke and Kyle Bartley and was solid after some early scares. Kipre wasn’t a regular at the start of the season but has earned his place on merit since the end of October. He’s now one of the first names on the teamsheet and performances against Coventry show why.
Against City, Kipre played for 90 minutes, had 46 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 64% of his 25 passes, made five tackles, gave away two fouls, had four interceptions and made six clearances. The 24-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions this season and has played every minute of West Brom’s last six Championship outings.
Since becoming a regular at centre-back from November onwards, Albion have suffered only one defeat while conceding three goals from the six games. The Baggies now sit third in the Championship and six points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
