West Bromwich Albion moved quickly in the transfer market to sign Jayson Molumby from Brighton & Hove Albion and John Swift from Reading this summer, but the Baggies haven’t completed another piece of business since the end of May.

Swift scored 11 goals and made 13 assists in the Championship this season, so West Brom have added a goal threat and creator to the ranks, but Steve Bruce wants another playmaker.

Scott Wilson of the Northern Echo said days ago that the Baggies remain keen on Elliot Anderson, but their pursuit has hit a stumbling block – Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe wants to see the 19-year-old in pre-season before he makes a decision on his future.

This means Anderson won’t be available to sign for at least a month, so West Brom might have to turn their attentions elsewhere. The Baggies aren’t the only side keen either with the Northern Echo crediting Sheffield Wednesday, Reading and Stoke City with an interest, so there’s no guarantee Bruce will land his signature.

Anderson scored eight goals with five assists from 21 League Two games while on loan at Bristol Rovers this season, so he’d be a brilliant addition to the Albion squad.
