West Bromwich Albion begin the 2022/23 campaign away to Middlesbrough on Saturday evening and fans could see all the Baggies’ new signings (John Swift, Jed Wallace, Daryl Dike) in one starting lineup.

Steve Bruce used Swift in every pre-season friendly and saw the 27-year-old score two goals with four assists in the six exhibition games, so he’s a shoo-in to start. He could play in an advanced playmaker role with two midfield anchors protecting him.

Wallace also featured in every friendly this summer, so he’ll be in the best condition to start at the Riverside Stadium. The 28-year-old is battling with Grady Diangana for a spot in the team, but Wallace started West Brom’s last four exhibition games while Diangana only started once in that time.

Dike started three of Albion’s last four exhibition outings and bagged two goals over the summer, so he should be ready to lead the line. Callum Robinson is recovering from injury while Karlan Grant might be needed on the left-wing, so Bruce doesn’t have a lot of attacking depth.

West Brom’s starting eleven looks much stronger than last season, so they’ll hope for a winning start to the campaign.
