West Bromwich Albion drew 0-0 with Cardiff City on Wednesday and Jed Wallace was hauled off in the second half after an underwhelming performance. The 28-year-old hasn’t scored or made an assist in his last three league games and Steve Bruce has finally run out of patience.

Callum Robinson replaced Wallace in the 67th minute and had a promising cameo, creating one chance and whipping in one accurate cross, so Steve Bruce could give him a chance to impress when Hull City come to the Hawthorns on Saturday.

Wallace had played every minute of West Brom’s first three league games, but Bruce finally took him off in the fourth game after he failed to impress. Albion have scored one or less goals in every Championship outing this season, so it might be time for change.

Robinson was West Brom’s second-highest goalscorer (7) and second-highest assist-maker last season (9), so he should be given more opportunities. The 27-year-old is yet to start a league game, however, amassing just 51 minutes of playing time this campaign, so he doesn’t have his manager’s trust.

But with Wallace underperforming and West Brom still winless after four games, Bruce needs goals and Robinson did deliver in 2021/22.
