Grady Diangana has impressed for West Bromwich Albion this season and deserved to start against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night, but the 24-year-old struggled at the DW Stadium as Albion drew 1-1. Diangana failed to make a telling impact offensively and may have benefitted from being hooked in the second half.
Joseph Chapman of Birmingham Live gave the 24-year-old a player rating of 5/10 and said he was ‘subdued’. Chapman was critical of how ‘quiet and ineffective’ Diangana was against Wigan, so he’ll hope to turn things around against Burnley on Friday.
Against Wigan, Diangana played for 90 minutes, had 49 touches, completed 76.5% of his 34 passes, failed to create a chance, made one interception, failed to register a shot on target, failed to whip in a cross, made one tackle, failed to make a dribble and gave away one foul.
The 24-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal with three assists. He’s created 15 chances and whipped in 14 crosses in seven league games, so Tuesday’s performance is just a minor blip on what has been a good campaign so far.
